Live capture

The application form takes this photo itself with your webcam or phone camera, so there's no file to prepare. Here's how to get it right first time:

  • Find a place with good light and a plain background.
  • Keep the camera at eye level, sit directly in front of it and look straight ahead.
  • Don't wear a cap, mask, glasses or spectacles. The photo must show a full frontal view.
  • If the captured photo isn't clear, recapture it. Photos that don't match the notice's specimens (Annexure-V) are liable to be rejected.
  • If you can't use a camera, scan the QR code on the Upload Documents page to capture the photo on an Android phone.

Signature

Required

  • Format: JPG
  • Dimensions: about 6 × 2 cm
  • File size: 10–20 KB
  • Background: White
Official instructions (3)
  • Sign inside a box so the signature fills at least 80% of it. Miniature signatures are the main reason for rejection.
  • Illegible or blurred signatures are rejected.
  • The notice says about 6.0 × 2.0 cm (§9.6) but about 4.0 × 2.0 cm in Annexure-IV. We follow §9.6; both are approximate.

Required: Signature. The application form also takes a live photo with your webcam or phone camera.

What is the SSC CHSL signature size?

JPG · about 6 × 2 cm · 10–20 KB · white background. Source: SSC CHSL 2026 notice, checked on 5 Oct 2026.

Yes. Photo is taken by the application form itself, with your webcam or phone camera, so there's no file to prepare for it. Use a plain, light background, even light, and look straight at the camera.

What if my file is smaller than the minimum size?

We first raise the quality and resolution within the allowed limits. If it's still under the minimum, we add standard metadata to reach it. The picture doesn't change, and the card tells you when this happened.
