Why photo uploads get rejected
- The file is bigger than 50 KB. Phone photos are usually 2–5 MB, so they always need compressing.
- The file is smaller than 20 KB. This happens with small, clean images; we raise the quality first and, if needed, add standard metadata to reach the minimum.
- The image isn't 3.5 × 4.5 cm. Cropping by hand often leaves it a few pixels off.
- It's saved as the wrong format: the portal accepts JPG. iPhone HEIC photos and screenshots saved as PNG are common mistakes.
- The background isn't plain white. A tool can't fix a coloured wall or a shadow; retake it against a white wall in good light.
FAQ
What is the RRB Group D photo size?
The official requirement is: JPG · 3.5 × 4.5 cm · 20–50 KB · white background. Source: rrbcdg.gov.in, checked on 5 Jun 2026. Always confirm against the latest notification before you apply.
What if my photo is smaller than 20 KB?
We first raise the quality and resolution within the allowed limits. If it's still under 20 KB, we add standard metadata to the file to reach the minimum. The picture itself doesn't change, and the card tells you when this happened.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere when I resize it here?
No. The resizing and compression run in your browser, on your device. Your file is never uploaded to us or stored.
